Mark Fletcher, Global Water Leader, Arup

Mark is responsible for all water and flood risk related business activity across Arup and has advised at a regional, national and trans-national level. He has delivered key note speeches at Stockholm World Water Week, International Water Week in Amsterdam and at WATEC in Israel.

He was appointed by the RAEng as Visiting Professor in Engineering Design for Sustainable Development until 2008. In 2014 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Bradford University for his work promoting sustainable water management.

Mark is on the Leadership Council of UK Water Partnership. He was Project Director for the BCIA Award Winning Bradford City Park. He is also a Board Director of the Water Industry Forum and is on the Policy Group for the Alliance of Global Water Adaptation (AGWA).

Steve joined CIWM as Chief Executive Officer in September 2003.  Prior to that he spent 15 years in local government waste management in the West Midlands and Leicestershire, covering everything from landfill acquisition and operation to waste regulation, and then 7 years in the Environment Agency as head of its waste function.  CIWM continues to grow under his stewardship and now has 7,000 + members.  Steve has been in the waste industry for over 25 years and anticipates staying in it for sometime yet as it matures to cover local to global environment and wastes through to resources.
