Reaching out to food service establishments
on fats, oils and grease disposal issues

WRc has provided training to a range influential organisations including local authorities and sewerage undertakers in the UK and overseas on measures to mitigate problems with fats, oils and grease. The courses are aimed at staff with responsibility for directly engaging with food service establishments.

The volume of waste fats, oils and grease that can be produced by a food service establishment has the ability to cause significant problems in the sewer system. Ensuring that appropriate measures are taken within the establishment is critical. Many measures – such as scraping plates and pans out into a bin rather than rinsing with water – are simple, yet highly effective, and are a case of engaging and training the establishment.
