WRc produced an up-to-date and accessible guide to modelling intermittent discharges that complements and signposts the many excellent sources of guidance already available to the modelling community on behalf of UKWIR to help foster an improved and more consistent approach.
Drawing on current good practice within the water industry, the Guide describes the process of quantifying and assessing the impact of intermittent discharges, discusses how to design and implement a modelling study, and highlights key areas of uncertainty and how to tackle them. The Guide is primarily aimed at water managers and planners in water companies who commission work from specialist modellers and authorise investment plans based on the results. It will also be useful to other stakeholders who want to gain an overview of current practice in the UK. WRc also produced a short introduction to the Guidance for planners, managers and stakeholders.
