Synthesis Findings from Agricultural
Diffuse Pollution Modelling Studies

A Rapid Evidence Assessment was undertaken of studies modelling the environmental outcomes of packages of measures designed to mitigate diffuse water pollution from agriculture. Relevant modelling studies identified by an expert steering group were supplemented with a search of published and unpublished literature. The assessment considered the strengths and weaknesses of the models used, their sensitivity to key assumptions and the level of agreement in model outcomes. The results informed Defra’s revised policy on agricultural water pollution and identified priority evidence gaps for future research.
