WRc, the innovation consultancy in the Water, Gas and Waste and Resources sectors is delighted to have won the “Highly Commended” SBWWI Water Dragons Award for Innovation 2014.
WRc submitted an entry on their Activated Sludge Diffuser Optimisation System (AS Dos) which uses fibre technology to measure bubble size and size distribution in operational aeration tanks. Linked with other information on plant performance, power use and costs, WRc can then determine whether, and when, it would be cost effective to upgrade or renovate the diffusers. This system is also available to confirm that diffuser performance in a newly commissioned plant matches the suppliers specification.
Ian Walker, Innovation Director at WRc, comments “WRc are delighted to receive this recognition of our innovative approach to providing solutions and services to our clients. It was particularly pleasing to have the commendations from the Water Dragons who represent some of the leading thinking on innovation in the water utilities.”
The technology is leading edge and offers the potential to save thousands of pounds in operating costs at wastewater treatment works.
