Reliable and robust dissolved oxygen (DO) measurement is fundamental to aeration control and optimisation of the energy demands of activated sludge based wastewater treatment processes. Accurate DO measurement results in better aeration control leading to reliable treatment and minimised energy use.
WRc, working with eight of UK’s water utilities, will be conducting the most significant and comprehensive trial of wastewater DO monitors undertaken by the UK water industry for over a decade. The trial will be run for 8 months at a wastewater treatment plant and is funded through the WRc Portfolio collaborative research programme.
Dr Jörgen Jönsson, Project Manager at WRc comments "The project will be a major source of information to support companies in the selection and operation of wastewater DO monitors through future investment".
Suppliers of suitable wastewater DO instruments were invited to participate and 13 instruments have been put forward for evaluation in the trial. For further information, please contact Jörgen at jorgen.jonsson@wrcplc.co.uk.
