WRc appointed by the Environment Agency to review methods for calculating ‘Fair Share’

The Environment Agency applies the Polluter Pays Principle in water quality planning through the Fair Share approach. The approach is embedded throughout the Agency’s measure development for River Basin Management Plans including that for protected areas such as those designated under Habitats Directive. As part of a forthcoming review of options for calculating Fair Share that may be considered beyond PR19, WRc has been appointed to review the relative merits of 3 methods for calculating sector contributions.

WRc appointed by STW to assess the water quality impact of its wastewater network upgrading in Stroud

STW have commissioned WRc to undertake a water quality assessment of its proposed engineering solutions to alleviate flooding within Stroud. STW need to demonstrate to the EA that their proposed options will not cause deterioration of the river quality in the River Frome. WRc are using their SIMPOL ICM integrated catchment model to fully represent the urban and rural impacts on the receiving water to support this assessment.
