WRc achieves Environmental Technology Verification Accreditation

WRc is pleased to announce that it has succeeded in becoming accredited as a Verification Body under the EU Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) scheme.

ETV is a new scheme to accelerate the uptake of innovative environmental technologies by the market. The problem at the moment is that many clever new ideas that can benefit environment and health are not taken up because they are new and do not have a track record. Under ETV, claims on innovative environmental technologies can be verified – at the request of if the owner of the technology  – by qualified third parties called 'Verification Bodies'. The 'Statement of Verification' delivered at the end of the ETV process can be used as evidence that the claims are both credible and scientifically sound. WRc has been accredited as the first UK based Verification Body, and has secured specific EU Funding to subsidise technology companies to reduce their cost for verification.

Mark Smith, Managing Director (WRc) comments “WRc is delighted to be the first UK ETV accredited organisation. At WRc, our long history of rigorous independent testing makes us ideal to verify manufacturers’ claims. Wide scale acceptance of the ETV scheme helps accelerate the uptake of innovative technologies by giving the end-user confidence that the technology will perform as expected. WRc is looking forward to working with the supply chain to encourage more innovative solutions - something that is badly needed in the water sector”.

On the 10th July 2013 at our offices in Swindon, we are running the first UK workshop on the scheme - Environmental Technology Verification – What and Why? The workshop is FREE to attend – for more information and to register visit http://www.wrcplc.co.uk/etv-uk-workshop-july-2013.aspx
