We have laboratory, pilot-plant and test rig areas which we use to measure, design, develop and evaluate processes and equipment for wastewater and sludge treatment. These are often linked to in house mechanical, electrical and electronic workshop capabilities, which range from individual instrument evaluations to construction of plant for on-site use or in containers for off-site and customer use.

Recent and current example projects are:

  • Investigation and development of a short period anaerobic digestion test;
  • Microbial testing of a disinfection system to validate removal efficiency;
  • Measurement of bulking organisms with recommendations on operational remedies;
  • Aeration testing.

 We carry out wastewater treatment simulation tests from 50mls to 5m3 using skills and devices that include small scale process plant, respirometry, microscopy, sludge and wastes thickening, dewatering and degradation. Processes and products may be controlled or monitored in a variety of standard or novel ways using our skills in instrumentation and analysis.

We have used laboratory and pilot-plant to measure effects of substances in sewage treatment or digestion, and microscopic inspection of samples, including linkage to site operational evaluation or guidance. New or adapted process designs, such as nitrogen removal, phosphorus absorption, process monitoring instruments, and effects of combining waste streams on efficiency or gas production are examples of testing carried out.

We offer abilities to mix practical measurements using existing or new analytical devices, with our well developed skills and understanding of full-scale needs in wastewater processes.
