Instrumentation, real-time systems and telemetry are essential tools to the water, waste and environment industries, enabling efficient and effective management of operations. Together these technologies have an increasingly important role in delivering the information essential to business operation.

WRc has a long history of providing innovative solutions and guidance on all aspects of instrumentation, control and telemetry. We have strong links with water company R&D and operational teams, instrument manufacturers, academic institutions and the environmental and financial regulators. We are independent and work for both end users and the supply chain. The scope of our work includes developing, testing and applying instrumentation, measurement and communication solutions. We recognise the importance of the entire data chain from sensor to date delivery to the user and therefore many of our projects encompass both measurement and communication.

WRc’s instrumentation team works with all the WRc business areas supporting process control, treatment or asset monitoring projects. The WRc team has close links with the Sensors for Water Interest Group (SWIG) www.swig.org.uk and the Electronics, Sensors and Photonics KTN (ESP KTN) https://ktn.innovateuk.org/web/espktn
