Introduction
Welcome to the Marine Monitoring Protocols Database, a searchable web-based
tool that provides information on the protocols and standards used to generate data for
UK marine monitoring programmes. The Database supports the UK Marine Monitoring and Assessment
Strategy (UKMMAS)
and complements the United Kingdom Directory of Marine Observing Systems
(UKDMOS)
by cataloguing information for over 250 monitoring
programmes across all scientific disciplines.
Specifically, the Database identifies the parameters measured by each monitoring programme,
provides signposts to the protocols used to generate a reportable data point for each parameter, and
presents information on relevant data quality standards. The Database was developed by
WRc
and
IECS under contract to
Defra.
