The following list of monitoring programmes conducted by UK-based organisations is based on the annual metadata returns compiled by Defra. The list includes only those programmes that are current and ongoing. The Database considers only monitoring programmes that are regular, routine and repeatable; one-off or irregular surveys, or ad hoc monitoring that employs inconsistent or non-standard methods are not included.
To find a particular programme, either use the search box or check the ‘ALL records’ box to view all programmes. Click ‘View’ for a description of that programme, a summary of its policy drivers, details of the contributing organisations, and a list of the parameters measured. Note that some larger programmes have a number of distinct elements, termed series.
