Policies and Legislative Drivers

Marine monitoring within the UK is driven by the need to assess compliance with EU Directives and national laws, to fulfil government policies, and to meet the obligations of national and international agreements, conventions and treaties. The following list is based upon BODC dictionary C361 (Monitoring activity legislative drivers) and includes all policy and legislative drivers for current UK marine monitoring programmes.

To find a particular driver, either use the search box or check the ‘ALL records’ box to view all drivers. Click ‘View’ for a description of that driver, a list of the pressures that it addresses, and a list of the monitoring programmes that are conducted under the auspices of that driver.
