IKT – Institute for Underground Infrastructure gGmbH

IKT – Institute for Underground Infrastructure (www.ikt-online.de) is a neutral, independent and not for profit institute, that works on solving practical and operational issues concerning underground sewers, pipes and other conduit engineering.

IKT will be exhibiting its MAC System (Mécanique d'Auscultation de Conduits), developed jointly with Eau de Paris, for non-destructive assessment of the mechanical condition of man-entry masonry and concrete sewers and aqueducts (from DN 1200 to DN 3000) and  the surrounding soil.

The system operates by applying controlled force at diametrically opposite sides of the pipe, to move it apart 0.4 millimeters apart. Measurement of this deformation, core sampling and 3d-numeric-calculations using the finite-element method are used to determine weakness in the pipe and/or surrounding soil and so facilitate the selection of a repair solution.
