WRc assists governments and regulatory bodies in creating soundly based regulation for the water and waste sectors.

  • In Europe, we work for the European Commission Directorates including: Environment, Research, Competition, Agriculture and Regional Policies.
  • In the UK, we help regulators such as: the Environment Agency, the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra), the Communities and Local Government, the Department for Transport (DfT), the Highways Agency and the Office of Water Services (OFWAT).

Project Examples:

WRc is leading an independent review of phosphorus pollution of freshwaters resulting from human and agricultural sources.  The findings will be used by the National Farmers Union to promote voluntary measures where phosphorus from agriculture is the predominant source.

Defra

WRc is leading a project for the Drinking Water Inspectorate to investigate the possible correlation between skin irritation and certain drinking water quality parameters.
