Andrew Davey is an environmental scientist with specialist expertise in experimental design and data analysis. As part of the WRc statistics team, Andrew provides statistical advice and services to a range of private companies and public agencies. Recent projects include: analysing the effectiveness of home composting in diverting waste from landfill; reviewing the data testing and compliance assessment procedures for PAS100; investigating behavioural influences on domestic food waste; and optimising the design of a national industrial and commercial waste survey.

Andrew is also an experienced statistics teacher, having taught experimental design and data analysis to third year undergraduate students at the University of Canterbury, and delivered internal and external training courses on the application of statistics to environmental issues. He is also the co-author of a book on analysis of variance published by Cambridge University Press in 2007. Prior to joining WRc, Andrew was a member of an inter-disciplinary team studying water resource issues at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research in New Zealand where he designed and analysed a series of laboratory and field experiments and developed and applied novel statistical techniques to improve river management tools.
