National Sustainable Drainage Standards

The Flood and Water Management Bill will require Defra to produce National Sustainable Drainage Standards, which will be used by developer in the design of sustainable drainage systems and by local authorities in the approval of drainage of new developments.  WRc has been employed by Defra, as part of a consortium led by CIRIA, which also includes HR Wallingford and Pennine Water Group to produce draft standards and guidance.  WRc's main task is to produce the standards.  The programme is to produce a draft standards and guidance for consultation in the summer and for publication in the autumn 2010.
