Sahara® surveys commissioned by United Utilities Water Plc
United Utilities Water Plc has embarked on a 4 year Trunk Mains Cleansing programme on its strategic Aqueducts that supply water to the North West of England including Liverpool and Greater Manchester.
As part of this programme, United Utilities has commissioned a series of before and after Sahara Leak Location surveys to help establish the integrity of their Aqueducts.
During June this year Sahara began working on Phase 3 of the Thirlemere Aqueduct Cleansing Programme.
The work is planned to be completed in 3 stages and should be completed by the end of July 2009. To date, on Phase 3 of the Thirlemere Aqueduct project, Sahara has completed 16 surveys and located 1 leak; on the boundary of Heaton Park. This leak will be fixed during the Cleansing of the Main and resurveyed at the end of the project to ensure the repair.
Over the next 3 to 4 years United Utilities will undertake and complete the Cleansing of all its Strategic Aqueducts – The Vyrnwy, The Hodder, The Dee, Haweswater and Thirlemere.
