Our Corporate Responsibility Policy has buy-in from our staff and influences our way of thinking and our approach to everything we do. This is an ongoing process and we will continuously strive to improve and set ourselves new challenges.

What we have achieved:

  • ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) in 2009.
     
  • Carbon Trust Report obtained and will form the basis for future efforts to reduce or improve our energy consumption.
     
  • Key strategic projects: including a 3 year collaborate research programme on the use of sewers for food waste disposal, a 3 year Fats, Oils and Greases (FOG) programme, the output from which has helped to form a nationwide FOG management strategy; development of an industry standard carbon accounting method.
     
  • Excellent working conditions for employees to enable them to achieve a good work/life balance - flexible working, BUPA, childcare, yoga, sports club & cultural activity subsidies, Cycle to Work plan.
     
  • Awards in recognisation of significant achievement.
     
  • UKAS accreditation demonstrating the competence, impartiality and performance capability of the team and our waste and resource testing laboratories.

Ongoing:

  • Working through our Environmental Management Committee to reduce water and energy consumption, and minimising waste through resource efficiency plans and activities.
     
  • Commitment to Climate change mitigation and adaptation measures - e.g. permeable paving, resource efficiency.

  • Regular staff surveys, using feedback to make WRc "The Place to Work".

  • Supporting our local community through membership of the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, involvement in local projects and offering work experience to local schools.
