Civil Engineering Specification for the Water Industry Introduction

The 6th edition of the Civil Engineering Specification for Water Industry was published in June 2004 and reflects the water industry's requirement for comprehensive, universal and relevant specifications for civil engineering contracts. It applies in England, Wales and Scotland.

The Specification is based on performance requirements allowing the Contractor to decide upon his method of working.

This 6th edition has been rewritten to take account of new European standards and is generic such that it can be used with any type of conditions of contract.

Updating Civil Engineering Specification for the Water Industry (CESWI) 6th Edition

The Civil Engineering Specification for the Water Industry - 6th Edition (CESWI) is widely used across the water industry and covers England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Water UK’s Standards Board has agreed that it is now necessary to update CESWI to reflect new standards and working practices, together with new technologies and more sustainable options.
