WRc REACH expertise assist companies

Over the past two years the National Centre for Environmental Toxicology (NCET) has been working with a number of industrial and retail organisations to provide technical advice and consultancy relevant to the requirements of Regulation (EC) No, 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). The work, which to date, has focused on the pre-registration and latterly registration of chemicals, has drawn on the NCET's existing expertise and experience in the collation and reviewing of data, filling data gaps and evaluating the hazards and risks posed to humans and the environment by the production and use of chemicals.

NCET has been working closely with the European Phenolic Resins Association and two consortia formed to specifically address issues associated with Unmodified  Phenolic  Resins (UPR) and Phenol Formaldehyde Amine (PFA) Resins. To further this relationship, WRc are currently discussing a  Framework Agreement that will encompass technical consultancy through the completion of the registration phase of REACH (including the generation of physico-chemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological data required for the registration documentation). NCET are also in discussions with other industrial organisations about the provision of technical support through WRc's role as an accredited supplier for the Chemical Industries Association organised REACH Ready Service.

For further information on NCETs REACH Services please contact either Dr Ian Johnson (REACH Manager) or Mrs Annette Ewence (REACH Coordinator).
